Expressing voice

LYMED participated in the 10th annual “Public Speaking” national competition organized by the National Center for Pedagogical Innovations and Experimentation for the benefit of students of the Moroccan Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE).

Three students were initially qualified at the local level to represent LYMED in the regional oratory contest organized on November 25th at the Mohamed V high school in Kénitra. The three selected LYMED students faced off against students from seven other CPGE centers with the art of handling the English language as their most valuable weapon. At the end of the elimination phases, one LYMED student qualified for the national final held on December 19th in Rabat.

Under the watchful eye of the jury, the finalists competed on the theme “Transforming Education to Conquer 21st Century Challenges.” The work, effort, and support of his teacher allowed Ahmed EL MAZROUA, the finalist, to achieve 2nd place in the national competition. This is a source of pride for LYMED, which attaches particular importance to the mastery of languages in scientific training.

Expanding horizons

The “Horizons” conferences, launched shortly after the creation of LYMED, are now a tradition appreciated by all. A time for sharing where students interact with individuals from different and inspiring backgrounds, all driven by the culture of excellence and passing on knowledge. It is around these discussions that students are led to learn about shared experiences, public speaking, and expanding their worldview.

The first quarter of the school year was marked by several videoconferences led mostly by engineers working in sectors related to the various aspirations of LYMED students.

The first presentation was given by Mr. Ismail EL HALLAOUI, Engineer and Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering of the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal. On this occasion, Mr. El HALLAOUI shared his experience as a student in Canada and presented opportunities within industrial engineering.

This was followed by a videoconference held by Mr. Salah SAADOU, Professor of Software Engineering and Programming at the University of Southern Brittany.

Mr. SAADOU went back over his academic and professional career and talked about the opportunities in cybersecurity, a promising sector that is looking for talent.

The Horizons 2022 conference series concluded with a presentation by Mr. Isam SHAHROUR, Professor and Director of the Civil Engineering and Geo-Environment Laboratory at the University of Lille. His presentation, which focused on the “Smart City”, particularly caught the attention of the second-year students whose TIPE (Travail d’Initiative Personnelle Encadré) project was on the theme of the city. Given the interest generated among students and in order to continue the “Horizons” tradition, new themes and topics are being prepared for the 2023 event.

Blood donation

For the second consecutive year, LYMED organized Blood Donation Day, always with the unfailing collaboration of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Tétouan.

It was in this context that over than 80 individuals: students and employees, and employees, reaffirmed their civic commitment to the blood banks of the northern region.

More than just a one-time event, this day reflects the essence of the values shared by the LYMED community and will become a regular occurrence in the future.
