PORT OF JORF LASFAR: PROCESSING THE FIRST RAW SUGAR SHIPMENT

On September 3, 2024, Marsa Maroc handled a first shipment of 55,000 tons of raw sugar for its customer COSUMAR, to supply its new refinery in the Doukkala region, with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.

With an expected rate of two monthly stops, the annual raw sugar traffic at the port of Jorf Lasfar is expected to reach 500,000 tons, generating additional volume to that already managed at the port of Casablanca. This operation marks a strategic partnership between
Marsa Maroc and COSUMAR, aimed at strengthening national autonomy in raw sugar and supporting the development of the sugar industry at the regional and national levels.
