In partnership with Tanger Med, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Brazil and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) organized a webinar on Thursday, November 10th on the potential of the Tanger Med Port Complex as a platform for Brazilian agricultural exports to the European Union, Mediterranean countries, and the Gulf Cooperation Council markets.

The Webinar was marked by the participation of the Moroccan Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Nabil Adghoghi, the President of the CCAB, Mr. Osmar Chohfi, officials of Tanger Med Group as well as representatives of agricultural and exporting associations in Brazil.

The various speakers highlighted the advantages of Tanger Med as a key link in global supply chains and as an industrial-port and logistics complex that meets international standards.

In his speech, Mr. Hassan Abkari, Managing Director of Tanger Med Port, stressed that the logistics platform of Tanger Med, which is located in the Strait of Gibraltar at the junction of the world’s most important shipping lines, will allow Brazilian exporters and producers to reach 600 million potential consumers in Western European markets and enjoy the benefits of the network of shipping lines connecting the Port to the rest of the world, calling for examining the various possible aspects of cooperation to achieve mutual benefits.

In turn, Mr. Rachid Houari, Managing Director of the logistics Zone Medhub and Mr. Idriss Aarabi, Director of Export-Import Operations reviewed Tanger Med port and industrial operations for 2021, as well as the network of shipping lines linking the Port with the rest of the world’s ports, particularly those in Brazil and Western Europe.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a roundtable was held on “Opportunities for Brazilian exports and reducing the cost of logistics,” marked by a presentation of the port of Itaqui, located in the state of Maranhão (northeast Brazil), as well as the port of Itajai in the state of Santa Catarina (south).
