TANGER MED ENGINEERING (TME) PARTICIPATED IN THE “AFRICAN UNION SUMMIT ON ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION IN AFRICA”

The African Union Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification was held in Niamey, Niger from November 20-25 under the theme: “Industrial-izing Africa: Renewing commitments to inclusive and sustainable industrialization and economic diversifi-cation”.

During this summit, TME presented the project of the future Economic Zone of Niamey for which it is in charge of the strategic study.

Indeed, in June 2022, the Government of Niger entrusted TME with the conduct of a feasibility study with an analytical path to delineate the fundamental principles related to the development of a special economic zone and to identify the business model adapted to the economic context and the potential of industrial development of Niger.

This special economic zone would allow the development of agro-processing and other manufacturing industries. It is also expected to house a logistics and trade zone as well as other infrastructure for energy production, water treatment and waste management to improve resource management and encourage the circular economy and inclusive industrial development.
