TANGER AUTOMOTIVE CITY: ESTABLISHMENT OF SKF MAGNETIC MECHATRONICS

On May 20, 2025, Swedish company SKF officially opened its new factory at Tanger Med’s Industrial Platform. The facility, covering more than 4,500 m², will manufacture components for magnetic bearings and high-speed electric motors, enabling SKF to meet growing demand while reinforcing its position as a global leader in this field.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Moroccan government and administration, Tanger Med Group, SKF Group, and key players in Moroccan industry.

The factory will produce modular and scalable products that integrate easily into various applications. Magnetic solutions—capable of operating efficiently at high speeds without friction or maintenance—are essential for machines such as compressors, turbines, motors, HVAC systems, and semiconductors.

Magnetic bearings allow rotors to levitate without contact via a controlled magnetic field. SKF’s technology enables industrial applications to achieve higher levels of performance, energy efficiency, and reliability than conventional systems. By minimizing friction and eliminating lubrication, these solutions also reduce the carbon footprint of industrial machinery and support sustainable energy sectors.

Located at the heart of Tanger Med’s Industrial Platform, SKF joins a high-performance ecosystem of international operators and leading suppliers, confirming its role as a competitive player in Morocco’s industrial supply chain.
