SIGNING OF THE FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT FOR THE REALIZATION OF THE MOHAMMED VI TANGER TECH CITY PROJECT

A framework agreement for the realization of the project of the Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City was signed on Monday, July 25th in Rabat, between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Wilaya of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council, the Tanger Tech Development Company (SATT), the Tanger Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA), Bank of Africa, and the companies Beijing Zhonglu Urban Development Corporation, China Communications Construction Company LTD, China Road and Bridge Corporation LTD, and CCCC Investment
Company LTD.

Located in the municipalities of Laaouma and Sebt Azzinate in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, this project, which extends over a total area of 2167 hectares, will include an Industrial Acceleration Zone (ZAI) with a total area of 947 hectares, of which 467 hectares have already been established as ZAI in accordance with the provisions of Law 19-94 regarding ZAI.

The project also includes a Smart City with a total area of 1120 hectares, which will include service areas, residential, tourist and leisure complexes, as well as all the public infrastructure necessary for the properfunctioning of the city.

The Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City is intended to be a sustainable, integrated, and intelligent industrial city, with the aim of consolidating the national economy’s foothold in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
