MARSA MAROC : RESULTS FOR THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2023

OPERATIONS

At the end of the 1st quarter 2023, Marsa Maroc Group handled 12.7 million tons of traffic, up 7% on the same period last year.

This level of activity is the result of trends in the following principal items :

  • Containerized traffic reached a volume of 563,526 TEU, a strong increase of 19% compared to the first
    quarter of 2022 :
    – Transshipment container traffic total ed 297,857 TEU, up 27% on the first quarter of 2022;
    – Domestic traffic reached 265,669 TEU, up 12% thanks to the recovery of import-export traffic at the Casablanca Port;
  • Solid bulk traffic increased by 6% to 3.9 million tons, driven mainly by clinker and sugar traffic;
  • Liquid bulk traffic fell by 8% to 2.3 million tons, mainly due to lower fuel oil imports;
  • Conventional traffic fell by 32% to 486 thousand tons, mainly due to the drop in steel products.
  • Consolidated sales came to 1,004 million MAD on March 31, 2023, up 5% on the first-quarter 2022 figure.

INVESTMENT
Consolidated capital expenditure committed by the Group at the end of March 2023 amounted to 16 million MAD, compared with 15 million MAD for the same period in 2022.

DEBT
The Group’s net debt at the end of March 2023 stood at 263 million MAD, down 64% compared with the First quarter of 2022, thanks to the fall in financing debts to 2,366 million MAD, following the payment of maturities on the various loans contracted by the Group, combined with an increase in cash and cash equivalents to MAD 2,102 million.
