RENEWAL OF DEPL’S COMPLIANCE DECLARATIONS WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE ISPS CODE

The compliance of DEPL’s port facilities with the provisions of the ISPS code was renewed in October 2024 by the Ministry of Equipment and Water, following an update of the security plan assessments for the Marsa Maroc multipurpose terminal at the Port of Laâyoune. This five-year renewal is part of the Terminal Safety Improvement program.

The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which went into force on October 1, 2004, under Chapter XI-2 of the SOLAS Convention, forms the basis of a comprehensive, mandatory security regime for the international shipping industry.

Specifically, the ISPS Code aims to create an international framework that fosters cooperation between contracting governments, government agencies, local administrations, and the maritime and port sectors, in order to assess and detect potential threats to the security of ships and port facilities used in international trade, and to implement preventive security measures against these threats.
