On Tuesday, November 12, Marsa Maroc and the National Port Authority of Liberia (NPA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Monrovia to strengthen Liberia’s port infrastructure and increase its regional trade potential.

The 18-month agreement covers two main projects:

– The development and operation of a new multipurpose terminal at the Port of Monrovia: The partnership aims to secure a public-private partnership (PPP) concession to develop a modern multi-purpose terminal. The terminal will be able to handle a wide range of cargoes, including dry bulk and break bulk, improving the operational efficiency and service capacity of Monrovia’s main port.

– A concession agreement for the Port of Buchanan: The partnership aims to improve the Port of Buchanan’s multi-purpose terminal, including the design, construction, financing, and management of this essential infrastructure to facilitate efficient cargo handling and support economic growth in the region.

Under this protocol, Marsa Maroc and NPA will work closely together to assess current port operations, share their respective expertise, and finalize concession agreements.
