ENHANCED FIRE SAFETY WITH THE COLDCUT COBRA SYSTEM

The Port of Tanger Med has reached a new milestone in fire safety with the acquisition of the Coldcut Cobra system, a high-pressure perforating and extinguishing device — a first in Africa. This innovative system, mounted on a trailer and towable by a light vehicle or a firetruck with water pump (FPT), incorporates high-pressure water jet cutting technology, enriched with abrasives (iron shot). It is capable of rapidly piercing even the toughest materials such as steel, concrete, marble, or wood, while projecting a water mist to effectively cool the gases produced by the fire.

This technology enables rapid, safe, and highly efficient response, while considerably reducing firefighters’ exposure to heat and toxic fumes. Among its technical features, the Coldcut Cobra offers a pressure of 300 bar, a flow rate of 28 liters per minute, a 350-liter water tank and a 20-kg abrasive tank, ensuring considerable autonomy during operations.

This system represents a significant advance in firefighting in complex environments such as ports. It allows remote targeting from a secure position, providing a more precise assessment of the situation and the ability to intervene over a wider area. This system enhances the safety of operations, while optimizing the protection of response teams and strategic infrastructures.
