HEARING SCREENING CAMPAIGN FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN IN FAHS ANJRA PROVINCE

A hearing screening campaign was conducted in Fahs Anjra province, the result of close collaboration between Tanger Med Foundation and its various partners, including the municipalities concerned, local authorities, the provincial directorate of national education, the provincial health delegation, schools, and the Association for the Hearing Impaired (Association Les Sourdoués).

This campaign is part of efforts to promote health in schools and prevent hearing impairment in children. Rolled out in several phases, it covered seven rural municipalities: Khmiss Anjra, Taghramt, Melloussa, Jouamaa, Bahraouyine, Ksar Al Majaz, and Ksar Sghir, with more than 190 students examined.

The screenings revealed that nearly 40 children had hearing impairments requiring hearing aids. In addition, approximately 20 students require further medical care, including ENT treatment, in-depth examinations such as auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing, and surgery to correct certain abnormalities.

Thanks to this campaign, the students involved will receive hearing aids tailored to their needs, improving their learning abilities, integration into school, and overall quality of life.
